Wholeness In Singleness

What is wrong with me?  The stigma of being single has created fear in the generation we live in today. Society tags singleness as a state of incompleteness. If you are single and in your late 20's or past age 30 people will ask unfiltered questions such as, " Are you dating anybody ", or, " What are you waiting for to get married ?", and the truth of the matter is that, if you are not sure of who you are, your mind will spiral into negative thoughts that can quickly create a distorted idea of being single. Being single doesn't necessarily mean being lonely. Being single is an amazing opportunity to get to know yourself. In this season you can understand inner battles that have created layers of insecurities. Like an onion, you begin to peel layers of ideas that through failed relationships were created in your mind.  Perhaps in the past you excused abusive ways and behaviors to feel accepted and possibly it even made you insatiably eager to " earn ...

Be alert

The enemy works in cycles. When he sees that we are doing well on aspects of our spiritual walk, he decides to attack a different weakness/struggle in our lives. The word of God warns us , " Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour . " ( 1 Peter 5:8 ) The Gate is Narrow When we decide to follow Christ our life will not be easier. Declaring that we will place our trust and faith in Jesus initiates a process that will expose addictions, self destructive habits and down-spiral-patterns of the thoughts we rehearse in our minds. When we start to rid ourselves of the destructive behavior we will begin to experience withdrawal symptoms that will tempt us to go back to the comfortable mindsets that have kept us trapped in these addictions. Jesus points us to enter through the narrow gate . For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction. ( Matthew 7:13 ) When driving on a  road th...

4- Steps that Help Out of the Funk

Dear Debs, Podcasting is awesome! Never was one to listen to a Podcast and now I'm HOOKED. While listening to a Podcast I heard a Christian author/speaker/leader figure saying, " Readers follow blogs and they start to believe the bloggers experience has to become theirs "... to my readers I propose to not limit yourself and think that my life experience will be your life experience. When I share my journey it is so that you are encouraged. It is for you to know that you are not alone. As Christian women from a new generation we tend to gravitate towards the simplicity of an online community. This is okay, but I can't stress enough to never stop congregating  Hebrews 10:25-27 Having said that, today I want to write about the journey of getting out of a funk (or a few funks). The daily mundane brings mental road blocks that can snowball and turn into an emotional torture-wheel. This emotional/mental torture-wheel then turns into depression followed by sadness an...

5 Tips to Study The Bible

Reading the bible can be pretty intimidating. But at the same time... The Bible is a beautiful Love Letter from God. The bible is a book that was written thousands of years ago. The language, text style and paraphrases are its own kind of literature. The bible is a book inspired by the spirit of God- written by men. The approach and mindset we adopt before reading the bible will help us set up for gaining the most out of the reading time we decide to invest.  The Old Testament takes about 1,000 years to make. It is filled with prophesy, accounts on all sorts of human dysfunction and magnificent accounts on historical events, that although not recognized by history books, leave some surprise when we learn archeologist findings that substantiate stories in the Old Testament. Fun fact: some Old testament books are written in poetry style. The New Testament took approximately 50 yrs to complete. The first four books are a...

The Good Shepherd

On my journey back to the Lord I slowly, but surely realized I was going to have to let go of a lot of things in my life. These things we can't avoid; our own will, our self-righteousness and judgement and the way we are self-trained by life to deal with disillusions, heartbreaks, rejection and anger. However, there came a point where I knew I was not dealing with any of these things the best way I could. Staying transparent to you is a goal I desire to keep transmitting through my blogs. I recognize my broken relationships, my anxiety, self pity, resentments and unhappiness were consuming my mind and heart and I had no peace. I had no safe place. I had no hope. All I did was dig deeper and deeper into this dark and deep black hole. In this Blog I want to share some of the very real struggles I had and some of the struggles I still face today. #TheStruggleIsReal, BUT NOW with JESUS so are the #BLESSINGS .....

Rise Above All

Issuing this blog was a challenge. Blogs are designed to be personal. However, the purpose of this Blog is to impart Him and His grace in my life (The Great I am)... My prayer is that this blog impacts those looking to Jesus. In a humble spirit I will be sharing my revelation of Jesus. At the age of 12 I accepted Jesus as my savior. I attended church regularly. Relationships and friendships kept me entertained and excited to be a part of something. The sense of belonging enticed me into loyalty to the church. There were experiences that showed me, at a very young age, that there was a powerful and higher being whose love for me made me a very blessed young girl. I felt loved. My sense of worth at church was an escape to my reality at school and at home. I was always a heavy child and faced bullying for being overweight and my timid character made it difficult to create friendships and bonds in school. Church was a safe place, but I did not have a...

Perseverance in Middle of Pain

Ever experienced depression? According to the Psychiatry.org link:  https://www.psychiatry.org/patients-families/depression/what-is-depression  this state can affect 1 in 15 adults and it is most common in women. **Disclaimer: I am not a physician and this blog is not to give any medical and/or depression-medical advise. It is all purely based on personal experience and my own battle and testimony of how I battled my depression. My dear debs, Jesus warned us about trouble and He said affliction  will come to all of us (John 16:33)... regardless of how much status , accomplishments, friends, influence and possessions we are able to acquire. If you have experienced or currently find yourself in the season of life where you feel in a deep sense of pain, where as a friend of mine once described with tears in her eyes, "placing one foot in front of the other in itself is a struggle", -allow me to say you are not alone. During this inner ba...
